This is a little piece I'm working on right now. Lots of layers and texture and, of course, colors.
I've been doing quite a lot of stitching, lately. Just not a lot of talking here on my blog. Lazy summer days. Do a little stitching. Have a little nap. Stitch a little more. Have an orange popsicle. It's just too nice to be inside on the computer. Must be out in the garden stitching and napping.
I did go inside for a bit of practice on my free-motion sewing. (I need lots more.)
In the meantime, I'm back in my comfort zone. Playing with fabric. Adding ribbons.
Doing a little applique.
And even doing a little painting on raw canvas, adding a few rubber-stamped letters.
The idea of milagros has been on my mind a bunch lately, and I'm playing around with some new ideas. I like the idea of integrating affirmations and creating some intention with my work. I recently finished reading Eat, Pray, Love (I KNOW! Been on my bookshelf for years, and I figured I better read it before I saw the movie.) Throughout the book, thoughts and questions bubbled up for me about my own spirituality, and how I can bring that into my daily world and into my creative work. It's a process, but I like where it's taking me.

At our last PMQG meeting, we got to try our hand at it. This is my practice swatch. It's really raw-ther sad-looking. Things started out a little shaky, but in the end, I sort of got the feel for it, and actually had some...
I really do need some more practice. But, at least now I don't fear my free-motion foot. She and I have had a very distant and cool relationship. We're becoming friends now. I'm hoping we'll create some wonderful things together soon.In the meantime, I'm back in my comfort zone. Playing with fabric. Adding ribbons.
