On Saturday, I taught Treasure Nests at my favorite local quilt shop, Fibers In Motion. This is LuAnn, who owns the shop. She's a doll. She's one of those people who you just love to be around. She's so calm, so zen, and such an inspiration. Thanks for having me, LuAnn. It was a real treat!
Six of the loveliest ladies showed up for class on Saturday morning, all carrying a pile of 1" strips, yards and yards of cotton cording, and eager smiles on their faces. I knew we were going to have fun.
After a bit of introduction and a little instruction on how to get started, they dove right in. Chattering in small groups, they wrapped and coiled and stitched, each nest as unique as the woman making it.
It's fun for me to go around the classroom and see what colors people are working in, what they've brought for embellishments. I get so inspired by students in my classes! Teddi and Katherine had some fun, fun goodies!
You can't really see it, and I'm sick I didn't get a closer shot, but that glob of color-full goodness on the left corner of the table where Gail and Joanne are sitting is a bundle of the yummiest silk fibers. Like yarn, but silk strips. In the most delicious colors. I had fiber envy.
An action shot. Julie is working that nest, man! (You can't tell from the photo, but the strips she's using match her outfit.) Barb's nest is black and white and red. Can't wait to see how these turn out!
Sadly, our day ended too soon for anyone to finish their nests. Hopefully I'll get some photos of finished nests via email, and I'll share them with you.
Oh Tammy this class looks like so much fun. I hope that I can attend the next one. Thanks for posting the pics. Hugs.
